Unbox Your Ledger Device

Carefully unpack your Ledger hardware wallet. Verify that the packaging seal is intact and all components are present. Your box should contain the Ledger device, USB cable, recovery sheet, and keychain strap.

Download Ledger Live

Visit the official Ledger website and download Ledger Live for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). This application will help you manage your crypto assets and device settings securely.

Connect Your Device

Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the provided USB cable. Follow the on-screen instructions in Ledger Live to initialize your device as new or restore from an existing recovery phrase.

Set Up Your PIN Code

Create a secure PIN code for your Ledger device. This PIN will be required every time you connect your device. Choose a code that's hard to guess but easy for you to remember.

Write Down Your Recovery Phrase

Your device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Write these words in exact order on your recovery sheet. Store this sheet in a safe, secure location - it's your backup if you lose access to your device.

Install Cryptocurrency Apps

Use Ledger Live to install applications for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage. Each crypto asset requires its own application on your Ledger device to enable secure transactions.

Add Accounts and Start Using

In Ledger Live, add accounts for each cryptocurrency you want to manage. Your Ledger device will generate unique addresses for receiving funds. You're now ready to securely send and receive cryptocurrencies.

Security Best Practices

Your recovery phrase is the only way to restore access to your funds if your Ledger device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Never share it with anyone and store it securely. Consider using a metal backup solution for added protection against physical damage.

Only download Ledger Live from the official Ledger website. Beware of phishing sites and fake applications that try to steal your recovery phrase. Ledger will never ask for your 24-word recovery phrase through email, social media, or any other communication channel.
